Vision Statement
Grapes for Grads is an annual wine tasting event and scholarship fundraiser hosted by Rotary Club of Laguna Beach. The event raises money for scholarships to assist students who attend Laguna College of Art + Design (LCAD) and graduates of Laguna Beach High School (LBHS) who are headed to college. The focus is on students who show excellence in academics or art and a strong commitment to community and who may otherwise lack the resources to achieve their educational goals.
History
In 2005 the first Grapes for Grads committee was formed. With the support of a few wineries and the efforts of the first committee who included current event co-chairs Jeffrey Redeker and Stephen Dotoratos, Grapes for Grads was created. The first year of the event was so successful, it was decided that the event would be held annually. As the event grew more successful the scholarships grew in number. Since its inception Grapes for Grads has raised over $80,000.00 in scholarships. Due to the great number of scholarship applications we now receive, a special committee was formed to help select the recipients.
Our Host
The Rotary Club of Laguna Beach was founded in 1931 by a group of 12 local businessmen. It is a California Nonprofit Mutual Benefit Corporation. From its beginning, the club has grown in membership and purpose. Today, the club has a membership of 64 men and women actively committed to supporting Rotary International and its goals. The Rotary Club meets every Friday at noon at the Aliso Creek Inn & Golf Course.
